A complete PPT test instrument is comprised of a universal base unit and test-specific “external” sensor. The Base Unit contains the instrument electronics, color touch screen user interface, printer and interfaces to power, sensors and (optional) external computer. The Base Unit features a cabled interface to the sensor.
The base unit includes an integrated 4.3″ color touch screen as the primary user interface. The touch screen display is designed to provide a simple to use, yet comprehensive user-interface to the functionality of the test instrument. The touch screen interface features a user configurable power-saving mode, and audible as well as visual alarms.
The integrated thermal printer can be used to generate printed test reports immediately following completion of a test. The built-in printer can also be used to print a test report for any past test recorded in the base unit. The thermal printer uses standard 2.25″ thermal paper available at most office product stores.
The PPT base unit is DC powered, requiring 12 volts at 0.2 amps nominal current. The base unit can be powered from a 120 volt AC wall adapter (included), or an optional alkaline or re-chargeable battery pack.
All sensors interface to the PPT base unit via a supplied 7 ft cable. The cable provides all power, control and data interfaces for the sensor.
The base unit includes an integrated USB interface to allow connection to an external computer (Windows or Mac). A free application program can be downloaded from this site to provide simple-to-use management of the test instrument. Functions provided by the ppt_host application include:
The base unit is housed in a rugged plastic watertight case with carrying handle (Pelican 1200 Case).
The base unit also includes a padded nylon carrying case for instrument, sensor(s) and all accessories.
