How to conduct a pressure test
Tutorial: Conducting a pressure test
Install the sensor to the plumbing using the 1/4" NPT male fitting.
Connect the Sensor Cable to the sensor, making sure to properly thread the connector, then tighten until finger-tight.
Plug the free end of the sensor cable to the base unit.
Connect the barrel connector on the end of the AC wall adapter (or battery) to the base unit power connector. Plug the AC adapter into a standard wall outlet (or turn on the battery).
Turn the instrument on by pressing the power on/off button. The instrument takes 5-10 seconds to fully power up to the home page.
From the instrument Home Page, press the Start Test button to initiate a test.
The test parameter setup screen will be displayed.
From the Test Parameters page, setup the test:
Select the test type by pressing on the right or left arrow buttons until the desired test type is displayed.
Set the test media using the right or left arrow buttons.
Set the minimum test pressure using the + and - buttons.
Set the test duration hours and minutes using the + and - buttons.
Press the OK button to advance to the Test screen. Press the Cancel button to cancel the test and return to the home page.
Note: the test media, test pressure and test duration are a function of the test type selected and the sensor connected to the instrument. The instrument will not allow test media, pressure or duration values that do not comply with regulatory guidelines, or that are not matched to the capabilities of the sensor.
With the sensor vented to ambient pressure, press the Tare button to zero the pressure sensor.
Pressurize the plumbing to the desired test pressure while monitoring the pressure analog gauge and digital readout shown on the display.
When the test pressure is less than the test pressure, the LED above the analog gauge will be red.
When the test pressure is equal to or above the test pressure, the LED above analog gauge will be green. Continue to pressurize the plumbing until the LED turns green.
Note: to modify test settings, press the Test Setup button to return to the Test Parameters screen.
Press the Go button to initiate the pressure test.
The Start Pressure and Temperature will update to show the pressure and temperature at the start of the test.
While the test is in progress:
The analog pressure gauge will update on a continuous basis to show the current pressure.
The digital readouts for pressure/temperature, and change in pressure/temperature will also update on a continuous basis.
The Test Time indicator will update to show the remaining test time.
The red Status LED will flash to indicate a test is in progress
The Abort button can be pressed at any time to cancel the test and return to the home page.
At the completion of the test (the Test Time display indicates 00:00:00), the Test Done page will be displayed.
At the completion of the test:
The Start, End and Change pressure and temperature displays will indicate the starting values, ending values and difference (end – start).
The Change Est. display the estimated pressure change at the end of 1 hour or 24 hours.
If a post-test “zero pressure” check is required to demonstrate the meter returning to zero pressure reading with pressure released, fully vent the pressure in the plumbing to ambient pressure and observe the meter and numeric indicator.
Review the test results and press the Pass or Fail button to save the data, or press the Cancel button to cancel the test without saving the data.
If a test has been recorded on the current day, the job-data fields will automatically be populated with the data from the last recorded test.
If no test has been recorded on the current day, the job-data fields will be initialized to default values (empty fields).
Edit the job-data by pressing the Edit Job Data menu button. This will display the Edit Job Data screen.
Automatically populate all fields from the last recorded test by pressing the Use Last menu button.
Edit individual job-data fields by pressing the associated button to the left of the field(s).
Press the OK menu button to accept the data, or press the Cancel button to cancel the job-data entry and leave the job-data unchanged.
Review the edited job-data for accuracy and to ensure all required fields are entered.
Press the OK button to accept the test data, or press the Cancel button to cancel the test without saving test data.
After accepting the test data by pressing the OK button, you will be prompted to print a test report using the instrument's thermal printer.
Press the Yes button to print a test report, or the No button to skip printing a report.
Note: the data can be reviewed and a report printed at any time using the instrument’s History function.
